Sixth Grade Camps

Why 6th Grade Camp?

Our goal is to guide students to discover God through the window of His creation.

Philosophy: When was the last time nature took your breath by something you saw, heard or felt? Was it when you saw the Grand Canyon for the first time, Yosemite’s beauty, an early morning fog whispering through the mountains, exploding colors in a field of flowers, the immensity of space? Every bird, every reptile, every mammal, every plant, every tree, every grain of sand, every human organ, every star, every forest, every insect, every thunderstorm – everything in nature declares God’s immense glory! And if we truly pay attention our response is always, “God you are amazing!” That is worship. We must remind ourselves as Christians that Gods creation is about worshiping Him. This is our goal at Sixth Grade Camp. Our goal is to guide students as they encounter the wonders of God and His character by discovering His creative works as displayed in the natural world around us.

Why Indian Hills Camp?

Our purpose at Indian Hills Camp is to help children to know and grow in their relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. One of our most important objectives is to show children how God relates to everything they see and experience in the outdoors. We specifically pray that each student through our Outdoor Education Program will see God for who He is and that they will see themselves as His most important creation.

AWARE Curriculum

Discovering God’s Truth Through Nature

The AWARE curriculum was developed by Indian Hills specifically for Sixth Grade Camp. This curriculum allows students to spark new interests, build self-esteem and become more AWARE of the key role each of them have in their society, natural environment and relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Goal is to guide students in becoming AWARE of . . .

  1. Seeing the Creator
We will explore how all aspects of nature have a purpose, namely to show the incredible power of the Creator
  2. Utilizing Their Own Common Sense
Common sense, imagination and acquired knowledge are all imperative in problem solving in the great outdoors. Our desire is to show students how God has given us all these for our protection, and to apply to our own Christian lives.
  3. Developing New Interests
Camp is the perfect setting for one to view God’s creation and discover His handiwork. Students are challenged by new experiences and encouraged to do things they have never done before.
