This summer at IHC is combining “camp” and “missions” to make it a summer you will never forget.
It is for people with passion and a commitment to Jesus Christ, a desire to live in community with fellow brothers and sisters, who want to learn what Jesus meant when he said "I came to serve not to be served”, and for those who want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. In the course of the summer you will get to share the love of Christ with children who have parent(s) in prison, come from broken homes, live in urban areas, refugee children, are orphans or who just need love.
You will...
-make life-long friends
-meet others that share your love for children
-join us at IHC as we reach out to the churches in our community
-go out to the San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles areas to do Day Camps in very poor areas
-end the summer with an Orphan camp in Mexico.
Who can apply?
- People with a desire to grow in you relationship with Jesus.
- People who have a love for children ages 8-13 years of age.
- People who are over 18 and have graduated high school.
Here is what you get to experience:
Staff Training Week - This is our vision, training and getting organized week. Never been a camp counselor or worked at a summer camp...that's okay! We will train you to do it all. This is camp for the staff, all 130 of us!!
5 Weeks of Evangelistic Camps - IHC is partnering with local churches here in San Diego County. The churches will use these weeks to reach out to their communities and bring children that have never even attended their church.
2 Weeks of Specialty Camps - This will be 2 weeks of doing camps for inner city kids, foster kids, and kids with parents in prison.
1 Week "Camp" Mission Project - Each week IHC will send 5-12 staff out to run Day Camps with inner city ministires and refugee churches in San Diego and Los Angeles.
*Each college staff will be assigned to a team and will go sometime during the 8 weeks at camp.
1 Week in Mexico - There all the staff will come together to run an orphan camp for the local orphanages. This has proven to be a highlight for our summer staff and for the beautiful mexican children God sends to us. We run this camp 30 miles south of the border in a small town 2 miles from the beach.
The dates are: June 10th - August 13th, 2010
The fee for the whole summer is: $500 (this includes room and board, food, weekend staff events, a 1 week "camp" mission project, and the Mexico Orphan Camp)
